Leaves distributed evenly along stem, deciduous, alternate, simple, unlobed, base symmetrical, margin entire, blade not pellucid-punctate, 2 glands present at leaf base; with 3 strong veins from base; domatia absent*; stipel-like structures absent*. Petiole present, without swellings or bends at base or apex*. Inflorescence with axis, axillary or just above the axils, males paniculate, females racemose; bracts not leaf-like*, green, falling early; pedicels present, articulated or not. Male flowers: sepals 4; imbricate, partially fused, greenish; petals 0; disc glands randomly distributed among stamens (interstaminal); stamens 25–30, free; anther without conspicuous modification, thecae introrse in bud; pistillode absent. Female flowers: sepals 4; imbricate, partially fused, greenish; petals 0; disc present, surrounding the ovary, annular; ovary locules 2, ovules per locule 1; styles 0, stigmas sessile, not flat, surface smooth*; staminodes present. Fruit indehiscent, not sculptured*, greenish to brown; seed without appendage, covering or membraneous layer*, not fleshy; embryo flat, not minute, cotyledons leaf-like.
