Female flowers: sepals 4 – 5, imbricate, free, greenish; petals 4 – 5, glabrous, greenish; disc surrounding the ovary, annular, more or less entire; ovary locules 3, ovules per locule 2; styles 3, free, style 2-branched (i.e. each style divided, ultimate divisions per locule 2) or expanded into a broad limb, styles or stigmas flat or not flat*, surface smooth*; staminodes absent. Fruit dehiscent, unsculptured or warty, hairy, greenish to brown; seed without appendage, covering or membranous layer*, not fleshy; embryo not minute, storage, cotyledons massive.
