SUMMARY
Tree, dioecious. Exudate absent*. Unarmed*. Indumentum present (only on the inflorescences), hairs simple. Stipules free*, simple, unlobed, entire *, not spine-like*, not leaf-like*, without glands. Leaves large, distributed evenly along stem, alternate, simple, unlobed, base symmetrical, margin entire, blade not pellucid-punctate; with 2 glands at the base above; venation pinnate; domatia absent*; stipel-like appendages absent*. Petiole present, without swellings or bends at base or apex*, without glands. Inflorescence with axis, terminal or almost so, or rarely axillary, spicate to almost paniculate, unisexual, the male inflorescences sometimes branched, the females unbranched; bracts not leaf-like*, green; pedicels 0 (all flowers sessile). Male flowers: sepals 3, valvate, partially fused*, greenish; petals 0; disc inside the staminal whorl (intrastaminal), stamens 4–7, free, inserted around disc or rarely 1 arising from centre of disc; anther without conspicuous modification, thecae introrse in bud; pistillode absent. Female flowers: sepals 5–6, imbricate, partially fused*, greenish; petals 0; disc below ovary, surrounding ovary base, lobed; ovary locules 3, ovules per locule 1; styles 3, partially fused, entire, styles or stigmas not flat*, surface smooth*; staminodes absent. Fruit dehiscent, unsculptured*, greenish to brown, sepals accrescent, persistent; seed without appendage, covering or membraneous layer*, not fleshy; embryo flat, not minute, cotyledons leaf-like.
