SUMMARY
Shrub, monoecious. Exudate (from cut stems) present, white. Unarmed*. Glabrous throughout. Stipules finely divided, without glands. Leaves distributed evenly along stem, alternate or opposite, simple, unlobed, base symmetrical, margin toothed or entire, teeth glandular, blade not pellucid-punctate, without glands other than those on leaf teeth; pinnate-veined or with venation reduced or obscure, domatia absent*; stipel-like structures absent*. Petiole present, without swellings or bends at base or apex*, without glands. Inflorescence with axis, terminal, raceme-like, with 0 – 2 female flowers near base, many male flowers above; bracts often with numerous minute glandular teeth but otherwise without glands, not leaf-like*, green; floral buds initially covered by large bracts. Male flowers: pedicels present, or absent (flowers sessile), not articulated; sepals 0 or 1–2 , minute, free or partially fused, greenish; petals 0; disc 0; stamens 2–4, free or partially fused; anther without conspicuous modification, thecae extrorse in bud; pistillode absent. Female flowers: pedicels present, not articulated*; sepals 3, free?, greenish; petals 0; disc 0; ovary locules 3, ovules per locule 1; styles 3, completely fused into a column (stigmas free), stigmas 3, not flat*, surface smooth*; staminodes absent. Fruit dehiscent, smooth or keeled, greenish to brown; seed without appendage, covering or membraneous layer*, not fleshy; embryo flat, not minute, cotyledons leaf-like.
