SUMMARY
Trees or shrubs, monoecious. Exudate (from cut stems) present, white. Unarmed*. Indumentum present, hairs simple (multicellular, usually coloured). Stipules free*, simple, unlobed, entire, not spine-like*, not leaf-like*, without glands. Leaves often crowded towards shoot tips, otherwise more or less evenly distributed along stem, alternate, simple, unlobed, base symmetrical, margin entire, blade not pellucid-punctate, upper surface with a pair of disc-shaped glands at leaf base, lower surface with a row of near-marginal glands, lower surface minutely papillose or whitish-powdery; venation pinnate; domatia absent*; stipel-like structures absent*. Petioles present, without swellings or bends at base or apex*, without glands. Inflorescence with axis, terminal, paniculate, bracts of side branches small, without glands, floral bracts 2-glandualr, not leaf-like*, green; floral buds initially covered by their large bracts; pedicels present or absent, not articulated*. Male flowers: sepals 3 partially fused, greenish; petals 0; disc 0; stamens 3–5, free; anther without conspicuous modification, thecae extrorse in bud; pistillode absent. Female flowers: sepals 3–6, partially fused, without glands, greenish; petals 0; disc 0; ovary locules 3, ovules per locule 1; styles 3, completely fused into a short column (stigmas free), stigmas 3, free, entire, not flat*, surface smooth*; staminodes absent. Fruit dehiscent, not sculptured, indistinctly hairy, becoming glabrous, greenish to brown; seed with or without small caruncle; embryo flat, not minute, cotyledons leaf-like.
