Inflorescence with axis, axillary or terminal, racemose; bracts very small with a pair of disc- or cup-shaped glands, not leaf-like*, green. Male flowers: pedicels absent (flowers sessile); sepals 3; free, greenish; petals 0; disc (position?), represented by a fringe of glandular hairs; stamens 3, free, filaments long; anther without conspicuous modification, thecae extrorse in bud; pistillode absent. Female flowers: pedicels short or absent; sepals 3; free or partially fused, fleshy, greenish; petals 0; disc surrounding the ovary, represented by a fringe of glandular hairs or scales; ovary locules 3, ovules per locule 1; styles 3, completely fused (stigmas may be free)*, entire, stigmas not flat*, surface smooth*; staminodes absent. Fruit dehiscent, not sculptured, greenish to brown; seed with caruncle, with no other covering or membranous layer; embryo flat, not minute, cotyledons leaf-like.
