Tree (with woody taproot), monoecious. Exudate (from cut stems) present. Unarmed*. Indumentum present, hairs simple. Stipules free*, simple, unlobed, entire *, not spine-like*, not leaf-like*, without glands. Leaves distributed evenly along stem, alternate, compound; leaflets unlobed, base symmetrical, margin toothed or entire, blade not pellucid-punctate, without glands (except at petiole apex), venation pinnate, domatia absent*, stipel-like structures absent*. Petiole present, long, without swellings or bends at base or apex*, 2-glandular at apex. Inflorescence with axis, terminal, cymose, panicle-like, bisexual, male above, female below, rarely unisexual; bracts accrescent, leaf-like, glandular or not at base, green; pedicels present, not articulated*. Male flowers: sepals 5; valvate, partially fused, greenish; petals 5, imbricate, glabrous, greenish; disc glands 5, free, outside the staminal whorl (extrastaminal); stamens 7–10, partially fused, in 2 whorls; anther without conspicuous modification, thecae in bud introrse, later extrorse; pistillode absent or present. Female flowers: sepals 5; valvate, free, becoming enlarged relative to other floral parts, greenish; petals 5, imbricate, glabrous, greenish; disc glands 5, free, surrounding the ovary; ovary locules 2, ovules per locule 1; styles 2, short, free* or partially fused*, style entire*, styles or stigmas not flat*, surface smooth*; staminodes absent. Fruit dehiscent (tardily) or indehiscent, not sculptured*, greenish to brown; seed fully covered by a fleshy outer layer (sarcotesta); embryo flat, not minute, cotyledons leaf-like.
