SUMMARY
Trees or shrubs, monoecious. Exudate (from cut stems) present, white. Unarmed*. Glabrous throughout. Stipules free*, simple, unlobed, entire, not spine-like*, not leaf-like*, without glands. Leaves often crowded towards shoot tips, otherwise distributed more or less evenly along stem, alternate, simple, unlobed, base symmetrical, margin entire or toothed, blade not pellucid-punctate, upper surface glandular?, lower surface sometimes with a pair of glands at leaf base; venation pinnate; domatia absent*; stipel-like structures absent*. Petiole present, without swellings or bends at base or apex*, without glands. Inflorescence with axis, terminal and axillary, racemose, 0–2 female flowers in basal part, male flowers above, many, borne of the axis in clusters of 1 – about 12, the male part of the inflorescence often falling away later; floral bracts peltate, without glands?, not leaf-like*, green; floral buds initially covered by a tunica-like sheath formed by the bracts; pedicels not articulated*. Male flowers: almost sessile; sepals 3–5, partially fused, greenish; petals 0; disc 0; stamens 1, filament short; anther without conspicuous modification; pistillode absent. Female flowers: almost sessile; sepals 6, free, often glandular, greenish; petals 0; disc 0; ovary locules 3, ovules per locule 1; styles 3, completely fused into a very long column (stigmas free)*, stigmas 3, very short, free, entire, not flat*, surface smooth*; staminodes absent. Fruit dehiscent, not sculptured, greenish to brown; seed without appendage, covering or membraneous layer*, not fleshy; embryo flat, not minute, cotyledons leaf-like.
