SUMMARY
Tree, monoecious. Exudate (from cut stems) present, white. Unarmed*. Indumentum present, hairs simple or 2-armed (multicellular, usually yellowish-brownish). Stipules free*, simple, unlobed, entire, not spine-like*, not leaf-like*, falling early. Leaves arrangement whorl-like or crowded-alternate, rarely leaves more evenly distributed along stem, simple, unlobed, base symmetrical, margin entire, blade not pellucid-punctate, upper surface without glands, lower surface with glands near margin, including at or near leaf base; venation pinnate; domatia absent*; stipel-like structures absent*. Petiole present, without swellings or bends at base or apex*, without glands. Inflorescence with axis, axillary, often appearing terminal, panicle-like, yellowish, with 0–1 female flowers at base, many male flowers above; bracts of side branches conspicuously large, thin-textured, with or without glands, initially each completely enfolding one of the very young lateral branches, floral bracts smaller, without glands. Male flowers: pedicels present, articulated?; sepals 3, completely fused, calyx with bilateral symmetry, greenish; petals 0; disc 0; stamens 4–17, free or partially fused; anther without conspicuous modification, thecae extrorse in bud; pistillode absent. Female flowers: pedicels present, articulated; sepals 3, partially fused, greenish; petals 0; disc 0; ovary locules 3, ovules per locule 1; styles 3, completely fused into a column (stigmas free)*, stigmas 3, entire. Fruit dehiscent, smooth, glabrous, greenish to brown; seed without appendage, covering or membraneous layer*, not fleshy; embryo flat, not minute, cotyledons leaf-like.
