Petiole present, without swellings or bends at base or apex*, without glands. Inflorescence with axis, terminal, racemose, short, usually few-flowered, uni- or bisexual, the latter usually with male flowers above, female below; bracts not leaf-like*, green; pedicels present, not articulated*. Male flowers: pedicels long, slender; sepals 5, imbricate, partially fused, greenish; petals 5, imbricate, glabrous, greenish; disc 0; stamens > 20, free, filaments very short; anther without conspicuous modification, thecae introrse in bud; pistillode absent.
