SUMMARY
Shrub or tree, monoecious. Exudate (from cut stems) present, white. Unarmed*. Glabrous throughout or indumentum present, hairs simple (multicellular, pale). Stipules free*, simple, unlobed, entire, not spine-like*, not leaf-like*, without glands, falling early. Leaves whorled or more or less alternate, not crowded towards shoot tips, simple, unlobed, base symmetrical, margin entire, blade not pellucid-punctate, upper surface with 1–2 disc-shaped glands at leaf base, lower surface with scattered glands; venation pinnate; domatia absent*; stipel-like structures absent*. Petioles present, without swellings or bends at base or apex*, without glands. Inflorescence with axis, axillary, panicle-like, with 1–3 female flowers towards base, male flowers many, in upper part; bracts of side branches small, often glandular, not leaf-like*, green, floral bracts with a pair of elliptical glands; pedicels not articulated*. Male flowers: almost sessile or with short pedicel; sepals completely fused, greenish; petals 0; disc 0; stamens 6–13, free or partially fused; anther without conspicuous modification, thecae extrorse in bud; pistillode absent. Female flowers: with short pedicel; sepals 3, free, greenish; petals 0; disc 0; ovary locules 3, ovules per locule 1; styles 3, completely fused into a short column (stigmas free), stigmas 3, free, entire, not flat*, surface smooth*; staminodes absent. Fruit dehiscent, not sculptured, glabrous, greenish to brown; seed with caruncle, with no other covering or membranous layer; embryo flat, not minute, cotyledons leaf-like.
